79. Week 1 (again) or V2.0

So here is weekly tracking 2.0. My new weekly update on progress, training and plans. It's going to start out a rather light summary, as my training is starting out as a slower burn and ramping up over time.

As mentioned before I've taken some time out. Healed a bit and got my chronic physical problems better under control. This has put me into being able to start running again! With a much longer schedule, and not starting from so far behind this time around, I'm taking it fairly easy to start out.

The week saw me start running again and re-embrace the wonder that is fasting, and saw me slip into the seedy underground darkness of Reformer Pilates.

I managed to get through the week without any wheels falling off which was a positive end result. Runs felt comfortable but was tentative about pushing too quickly. When I've a new target in mind, I'm often guilty of screaming out of the blocks over-enthusiastically and eventually fucking myself up. This time I was determined to have more self-control.

It played out as follows: Tuesday - 40 min treadmill Maffetone pace

Wednesday - 1 Hour with the Pilates Mafia

Saturday - 1 hour trail run

Sunday - 1 Hour trail run

Nothing particularly wow about this. Just build the engine back, fatigue the muscles and build some strength again slowly.

What the eagle-eyed may have noted is the Back-to-back training. This is deliberate. I'll write a following post about the back-to-back in greater detail. But for now It's both for physical reasons and for mental ones which I'll cover in depth and will stand me in good stead for the challenge at the end of this next phase.

I also picked the fasting ball back up. Two days a week where I finish eating one evening and then avoid all food until the following evening. The first one sucked, but the second one was even shittier as it was on a training day. That's really been it for the start. No fanfare, no gasps of wonder at superhuman efforts of insurance. Just a business like simple return to the long road to ultra that I'm on.
