32. Week 10 - Training and Results - The Chase Is On!

This week was a much lighter week on my feet as my tendonitis problems were flaring up a little. It culminated in a pursuit run with my friend, which turned out to be a bit of a beast of a session for me, putting in 24Km in less than 4hrs on a trail run carrying pack and poles. Not a bad effort at all with 8 training weeks left before the main event. That said I'm a little concerned about the achilles and peroneal tendon pain I have and I'm looking at a combination of supplements to help such as hydrolysed collagen, CBD balm and arnica. I'm massaging and foam-rolling the trouble spots daily and icing after runs. I'll update on how effectively these work (if in fact they do). Normally I'd try one thing at a time, but I need to get this under control quickly as I'll be running 50Km in two weeks time and would rather it didn't hurt for at least the first half of the run. Add to this I have a niggle in my lower back which gets crazy tight during running after a while. Just in the Lumbo Sacral joint in the left side above my glute. I'll talk to my osteo about it. I can release it quite easily but it's giving me grief over longer distances and I have enough issues to manage without another problem occurring.

So onto the training and results

Week 10 Training

Monday:

- Rest Day / Stretching / calf rehab work

Tues

- 5km Treadmill MAF run

Wed

- Rest day / stretching / calf rehab

Thurs

- Rest Day /

Fri

- Rest Day /Stretching

Sat

- 24km Pursuit run (see post 31.)

Sun

- 5km walking recovery (not tracked on watch though)

A lighter mileage week for sure and the 24k run (pretty much quarter distance) left my legs sore and tight. A sure sign I had pushed a little too hard and had gone a bit too fast. I'm of the mind you need to push it once in a while to remind the body to adapt to stress better and it was a good exercise to remind the body what it's going to be like when it hurts and how to keep moving when everything tightens up.

Fat loss progress

Double Figures!! At Last! Broke the 100kg barrier for the first time in a very long time. I'm noticing though the curve is dropping off. I actually weigh myself approx every other day, and seeing that next week's results will start to plateau. I just need to break through that. I'll be giving some thought over how to do that. With that said, though, these are the results:

Starting Weight: 112kg

Wk 7 Weigh-in: 99.6Kg!

Weight Lost = 12.4kg (27.28Ibs) in 74 days (that's two stone!)

Remaining weight to lose = 9.6Kg

I am now 62% of my target in 10 weeks! Not so bad at all :-)
